Seeing Yoshi’s Insides Definitely Freaks Us Out

Yoshi, Mario’s little dinosaur pal, has run into a bit of a problem. The flesh…or scales, or whatever his skin is made out of, you see? Half of it has been violently peeled off. We suspect it’s the work of that jerk Bowser, who didn’t want Mario to get around. What’s worse is he propped him upright like something out of that creepy Bodies exhibition in New York.

While Mario’s noble steed will no doubt be missed, we can make the best of it by remembering him as he was in life. Wait! What’s that? Yoshi isn’t dead? That’s just a statue? Oh, man. That’s good to know–Yoshi’s too awesome to die.

Well, that doesn’t mean we can’t remember some of the cool moments in Yoshi history. Like when he was hatched and he thought Luigi was his mom. Remember that? You may not, because that was from the short-lived Super Mario World cartoon with everybody’s least-favorite little caveboy, Oogtar, an annoying little turd of a character that was written in to replace the Princess’ loyal servant, Toad.

Yoshi was actually introduced in Super Mario World, which debuted on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991 and was also known as Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan.

As it turns out, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto (also known for, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin and Wii Fit) had always wanted Mario to have the ability to ride a dinosaur companion of some kind. Unfortunately, the limitations of the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) prevented this from happening. Knowing that Miyamoto tends to have very exacting standards for how games developed by his team should work, we imagine that it was tough to get an approval on a Yoshi-like character before the SNES hardware made the possibility a reality.

We’re glad it happened, because Yoshi has become an important character in the Mario universe.

Have a look at a similar Mario figurine, or just stick to the Yoshi love and enjoy this cute little picture of a cat snuggling with a Yoshi plushie. Trust us, it’s beyond adorable. We just want to squeeze the kitten AND Yoshi.

Yoshi Loved Birdo

Yoshi, the lovable green character from Super Mario Bros is in love…and it seems he found the perfect Birdo.

Maybe it is the time spent away from Super Mario Bros 2, but at first glance, Birdo does actually seem to be a perfect fit for Yoshi…but then again, Birdo is a little disgusting.

Well, if Yoshi wasn’t so picky, we already found who loves Yoshi a whole lot.

While Mario may be the most popular of the Super Mario Bros characters, Yoshi is by far the cutest, and as this image proves, nearly everyone loves Yoshi!

Yoshi Must Be the Coolest Super Mario Brothers Character Ever

Ever since Yoshi was introduce for the Super Mario Brothers series, I fell in love with the cool character. I mean, what is there not to love: cute, green and provides a different character to play with.

In order to show that Yoshi is just as popular as Mario and Luigi, we decided to show in one place cool Yoshi is for Nintendo, Super Mario Brothers, and what awesome products Yoshi has been granting the Nintendo fans.

Yoshi’s Island

The Nintendo DS game Yoshi Island is a great example that a character from the Super Mario Bros series was able to make a successful spin off into its own popular and fun DS game.

Yoshi’s Story

Yoshi’s Story was featured on the Nintendo 64 as a sequel to the SNES version of Yoshi’s Island. It may not be the best game of the bunch, but it still was fun, cute and granted entertainment.

Yoshi Mods

It is as if no one would give Yoshi respect or the time of day if a fan didn’t integrate the Nintendo character into a cool mod. Here there are two really cool Nintendo mods that show Yoshi at its best.

The Yoshi Wii Mod is an all around artwork that encompasses the Nintendo Wii console. After taking a few second to look and see how adorable it is, I can say I’m green with envy.

The most amazing thing would be to play the Yoshi’s Island DS on the Nintendo DS Mod we see here. It looks a tiny bit childish and not ‘Apple-like’, but c’mon…you are playing Nintendo, you are looking for a childish thing.
